Gardening project in Abomey
Another project in Benin that the Liweitari Circle of Friends has been able to support and continues to support through its work is a market garden that, like the EPAL project, demonstrates ways in which organic methods and careful care can be used to create a secure and sustainable source of food and income for women from poor backgrounds.
This project was initiated by the German doctor Hans Lederle from Weiler im Allgäu, who went to Benin in the 1970s to work as a development aid worker to provide medical care for the poor population there, and his Beninese wife Chimène, who mainly manages and supervises the project.
